Manchester music star Shayne Ward speaks for probably most of the male population when he admits he was ‘gutted’ that Pamela Anderson was voted out of celeb skating show Dancing On Ice on the very first week.

Former X Factor winner Shayne had become pals with pneumatic Hollywood star Pammy on the ITV show and says she’s been much missed by all of the remaining contestants, now training for Sunday’s show.

He says: “I’m gutted that Pammy has gone – all the boys are sad about it!  We’ve been properly depressed. She was  lovely to me and I really got along with her, she was very humorous and a little bit flirtatious which went down great in my book!”

Now Shayne will be concentrating on his big goal – staying in the show as long as possible.

He’s already impressed the judges with his skating skills, particularly as he admits he never got chance to skate as a youngster growing up in Clayton.

He laughs: “You’re kidding – I was one of seven, and in our house if one went the whole lot of you had to go, so we could never have afforded ice skating.”

And Shayne is pulling out all the stops to impress the judges and voting public – admitting he’s happy to be spray-tanned up and wear whatever skimpy, sequinned Lycra ensemble that show bosses send his way.

He laughs: “It’s all part and parcel of the job, it looks great on TV so I’m happy with the spray tanning and the tight leathers.”

It should delight his fans, as Shayne tells me his intense skating schedule has got him in the ‘buffest’ shape of his life.

However he’s been in plenty of scrapes along the way.

He says: “I’ve got so many bruises they’re starting to look like a tattoo.  But you have to commit yourself to the challenges and just go for it.”

While Shayne may have been dropped by Simon Cowell’s record label, he insists that his future, after Dancing On Ice, remains with music.

He says: “I miss the music industry, but I don’t miss the bull**** that goes with it. I’ll be heading back into the studio after Dancing On Ice. I know I’ve got a voice, and I look forward to getting back out there and doing my own thing.”

Meanwhile Shayne has praised ice bosses for bringing back acid-tongued judge Jason Gardiner to this year’s show.

Shayne says: “I’m glad Jason is back, the show needed that.

“He’s honest of course, but I think he brings that element of pantomime that people look forward to.

“I just hope I can impress him, but if he gives me a bad comment I can take it!”
