Houldsworth LancsA new studio theatre space is due to open it’s doors this weekend in the heart of Rossendale Vally, Lancashire. Houldsworth Lancs, will from this weekend offer local residents a chance to tread the boards with a range of weekly classes from Children’s Musical Theatre to Advanced TV Acting for Adults through the ‘Houldsworth Academy‘, which also operates classes in Manchester City Centre. The venue will launch with an Open Day on Saturday 25th May from 9.30am and you are encouraged to drop by to discover what’s in store.

As well as providing a training ground for budding performers in the region, Houldsworth Lancs, situated just off the main Rawtenstall roundabout on New Hall Hey Road, will also play host to a variety of touring theatre companies and in-house productions of old classics and exciting new writing.

Houldsworth Lancs is the brain child of established playwright, Acting Agent and business-woman Sally Lawton, owner of Houldsworth Media Group Limited. Over the years, Sally has penned many hilarious and successful comedy productions on Manchester’s theatre scene and was recently invited to write a short play for the popular ‘One Play One Day’ theatre event in the city centre, with an entire play being written, rehearsed and performed by a professional cast within just 24 hours. It’s safe to say that any budding Playwrights in the region will be in safe hands at Houldsworth Lancs. Sally also runs an actors agency called Strawberry Management, offering representation for professional theatre, television and commercial acting work for her clients, many of whom were discovered through classes in Manchester.

The new venue, which will seat an audience of around 40-50 for an intimate show, will become the new headquarters for Houldsworth Media Group Limited after transferring from their previous base in Manchester’s creative Northern Quarter on Houldsworth Street – in case you were wondering where the company name originated from.

If you have ever fancied stepping on to a stage and flashing your jazz hands, honing your acting skills in front of a camera or picking up a quill and penning your first play, Houldsworth Lancs has a course for you, whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced octogenarian Actor looking to sharpen up. Doors open at 9.30am and all will be welcome.
